Baker & Company Llamas |
Baker & Company Llamas is located in Mount Vernon, Ohio, northeast of Columbus. Our herd currently consists of 65 llamas and two alpacas. Since starting in 1995, we have come to love and admire these amazing critters and now we can't imagine our life without them! As any reputable breeder should, we breed for: sound structure, correct conformation, excellent fiber and gentle temperment. In a nutshell, we are breeding for Grand Champions. With these goals met, we have llamas that prove themselves in the showring as well as just being nice to be around. We love to show and have been fortunate to do well and to have made so many good friends in our travels around the country; showing is great fun! We also make a point of getting to fairs and parades to introduce others to the joys of the "llama lifestyle". With their versatility, there really are llamas for everyone who wants them. Baker & Company will do our best to find the perfect llamas for your needs and, if we don't have what you want, we'll be happy to help locate another quality breeder who can; that's best for the client and for the llamas! If you are new to llamas, we will gladly share our knowledge and experience with you. Along with the show circuit, Barb is also involved in several regional and national organizations that promote the health, well-being and incredible versatility of llamas. She has served on the Boards of Directors of the Ohio River Valley Llama Association (ORVLA), the Llama Association of North America (LANA) and has been an active member of the Advisory Council for the International Camelid Institute (ICI), since its inception in 2000. She was the Chairperson for the "2001- A Lama Odyssey" fundraiser held for the ICI, which added $82,000 to the endowment fund. Since August 2007 she has served as the Associate Director of the ICI. Barb is also a strong supporter of the annual Camelid Community conference held every year in Kansas City and has served as a moderator for four years. Since 2005 Barb has been been involved with promoting the llama industry at the annual FFA Convention, showing the joys and potential profitability of owning llamas to the 55,000 members and advisors who attend. Steve is an Electronic Design Engineer by day and the "Company" part of Baker & Company Llamas by night, on weekends and at shows and events and when Barb travels. He is an integral part of the operation - it couldn't get done without him! |
